One Last Time

She watched him stride out from the hallway, appearing as strong and powerful as he had always been, but this time she couldn't stop the uttermost terror from dwelling within her soul. Never before had she seen her leader in this much armor, and never before had his armor revealed his true heritage...never before had his golden eyes had glowed so intensely, and so emotionally.

They said that because he was the son of fire, yellow light shall always show him the way to victory. But that's not what the flames showed her, they showed her the fear he tried so hard to escape.

He watched her own cool eyes widen in loving worry, and felt his own soul begin to fill with dread as his mate's body began to tense by his arrival. It was obvious between the both of them that the tension will never go away after tonight, and it became obvious very quickly that those torches won't be lit forever. They were about to go to war after all, otherwise they would have never worn his symbol so proudly.

Both of them knew they were afraid, for themselves, for each other, for their family, and for the people that decided to lay their lives down for the city's well being. They knew well that tonight could be their last night alive...

WHEWWW SUPER LONG STORY EXCERPT I KNOWWWWW
I got this idea a while back as I was writing up one of my old stories, including my old characters Aurel and Penelope Unknown. This was a scene where both of them were preparing for a battle in the night, and this was their last moment of seeing each other before going their separate ways. I'm such a nerd, I know haha.

Also, it's been quite a while since I've decided to use 2 panels, and it was quite fun trying to make the background _{Please don't hate me I'm no good with backgrounds...}

Anyways, hope you guys enjoy and don't judge on the mistakes I've made haha.
